Xu Zhang

About me
Xu Zhang is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Oklahoma State University. He received the Ph.D. degree in Mathematics from Virginia Tech in 2013. His dissertation was advised by Dr. Tao Lin. From 2013 to 2016, he was a Golomb Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Purdue University. Before joining Oklahoma State University, he was an Assistant Professor (tenure-track) in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Mississippi State University during 2016-2019.
Dr. Zhang's research interests include numerical analysis, scientific computing, finite element methods. More recently, his research is on immersed finite element methods for interface problems and their applications. Dr. Zhang has received several research grants from National Science Foundation. In 2021, he received the Powe Ralph E. Powe Junior Faculty Enhancement Award from ORAU (University News).

- Dr. Zhang is a co-chair of organizing committee of the 7th Annual Meeting of SIAM Central States Section to be held on October 1-2, 2022 at Oklahoma State University.
- Dr. Zhang serves as the managing guest editor in a special issue of International Journal of Numerical Analysis and Modeling dedicated to the Midwest Numerical Analysis Day 2021
