How to Study
Math
Your success
in Technical Calculus this semester is our primary concern! We believe if you will
follow the suggestions outlined below, you will be successful. Further, we
believe these suggestions provide a sound foundation for your success in
learning mathematics in future courses. Review these suggestions periodically
throughout the semester. This material has adapted with permission form “The
College Algebra Learning System” by James Choike and
John Jobe and “College Algebra for the Biological
Sciences (CABS) Learning Supplement” by Douglas B. Aichele,
Alan V. Noell, and Stanley F. Fox.
The Technical Calculus Learning Supplement (TCLS) is based on the
belief that all students can master Technical Calculus given proper
prerequisites, coursework materials, support, and a commitment to try to learn on the part of the
individual student. The TCLS has been designed and developed to provide
guidance and support to the student in learning Technical Calculus.
It
is dependent upon the student’s commitment to try to learn Technical Calculus.
If a student does not use the TCLS and does not do the homework and does not
attend class and does not really care to study, then no Learning Supplement, no
matter how good the materials are, can help such students learn and, hence,
pass Technical Calculus.
