Student Comments
- "This is my favorite class
I've had since I've been at OSU. It's insightful and interesting.
Even though this wasn't what I expected, I'm glad it turned out this
way. I love going home after class and teaching my friends what we
did in class. I love how the class is involved, and it's not some
boring lecture class. I would not change a thing!"
- "I really enjoy this class.
I like how everyone in the class tries to help other people out.
I think that really makes people learn better. I am not going to
be a teacher, but I think for the students that are going to be a
teacher, it would really help them to help others in the class. I
expected this clas to be taught more by the instructor, but I like
the way it is taught."
- "I like how when a difficult
problem comes up that someone can't seem to solve on their own, the
class is encouraged to suggest alternate methods of solving it. I
expected it to be more of a lecture class instead of being based
on group work and discussion, but I'm glad I was wrong."
- "I'm really afraid of this
class. I have a difficult time in math, unless I have several examples
to rely on. I'm more of a formula person that if you give me a formula
and an example, I can do the rest of the problems. I was really shocked
when we didn't have a textbook because I like to look back. I'm also
not good at speaking up because I usually don't understand the entire
page. I hope I don't get too behind."
- "So far I really enjoy this
class. I am learning a lot. I like how we go over problems in class,
and have the students explain. It makes more sense sometimes. I do
wish we had better instructions on homework before we work on them.
This class is nothing like I thought. It is fun."
- "It's interesting, but I am
used to more structure in my classes. I can see now the value of
the folding of paper, which I could not see before. I do wish we
had more output as to whether something is right or wrong. This worries
me because of the tests we will take."
