Actuarial and Financial
Mathematics has traditionally served as an entry to actuarial careers, and this track preserves that tradition. But mathematics has in recent years played a much larger role in the world of banking and finance. The financial mathematics track includes not only newly developed mathematics courses, like Mathematical Interest Theory (MATH 4453), but also courses from finance and economics.
In this track, you can earn a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree.
Undergraduate - Secondary Education
STUDENTS WHO COMPLETE A SECONDARY EDUCATION MAJOR WITH THE MATHEMATICS OPTION WILL HAVE COMPLETED ALL REQUIREMENTS FOR A SECOND MAJOR IN MATHEMATICS.
SCED MAJORS EARN A SECOND MAJOR IN MATHEMATICS.
Requirements: The requirements for a second major in Mathematics include 46 hours of mathematics and mathematics related courses. You must have an overall grade point of 2.00 or above with a minimum grade of C in each course counting toward the second major in Mathematics. The Departmental requirements are the same as those for a SCED degree under the Mathematics option.

Undergraduate - Teacher Certification
Track within major that corresponds to the secondary education major with concentration in mathematics
This track is preparation for teaching mathematics in high school. The major requirements are identical to those of the mathematics option of the Secondary Education major. Students who complete the requirements for the SCED program with the mathematics option automatically complete all requirements for a second degree in mathematics. Similarly, if you choose the mathematics teacher certification track as your first major, a second major in SCED may be available to you. You should consult with an advisor in SCED.
In the teacher certification track, you can earn either a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree or a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree. The Bachelor of Science places more emphasis on the natural and mathematical sciences, while the Bachelor of Arts places more emphasis on arts and humanities. The requirements for each degree are a little different.
